A Father’s Prayer

02 Feb

Heavenly Father,

Tonight I saw my son walk across the stage, and for the very first time, open his bible and preach the gospel in the church where he was raised. I asked you when he was born to help me to train him up in the way he should go and you heard my prayer.  I remember the day I had the honor and privilege to show him in the bible how to be saved.  He is a man now, a husband and a preacher.  I want to praise you for calling my son into your service.  I want to thank you for allowing me to be his father.

I am not worthy of such joy.  Today I know what David meant when he said “my cup runneth over”.  Father, to see my son following you is my greatest triumph.  To see him proclaim the gospel causes my heart to rejoice.  If this was the last day of my life you saved the best for last.

Saying thank you sounds so shallow yet I have no other words to express the joy I feel.  In the things that matter I am the richest man on this earth.  I want the world to know that I love you with all my heart, in Jesus name, AMEN

I wouldn’t know how to manage a greater joy. God has blessed me above my ability to accept it all. Every time I try to let it sink in I start to cry again. Praise God, bless His holy name.

I am over joyed with you brother, I’ve had the same experience. God’s grace can be so overwhelming. The older I get, I’m 61, the more I’m totally humbled by it all. Thank you for sharing this.

Thank you. I’m still on cloud 9. Seeing my son following God’s call is the most gratifying thing I could ever imagine.

I was touched by this young man tonight. I knew both of his fathers were proud of him…his heavenly and his earthly. I hope to hear him again. So blessed by the word he brought!

I rejoice with you in your blessing. Praise our wonderful Lord. Reminds me of Psalm 37:4 – Delight yourself in the Lord; and He will give you the desires of your heart. My desire is that my children will love the Lord with all they are. Continually seeking Him, Sharon
